Super Mario Odyssey, developed by Nintendo EPD, is one of the most acclaimed 3D platformers ever created and a flagship title for the Nintendo Switch. The game follows Mario on a globe-trotting journey across vibrant and imaginative kingdoms to stop Bowser’s plan to forcibly marry Princess Peach. Joining him is Cappy, a magical hat-like companion from the Cap Kingdom whose sister Tiara has also been kidnapped.
 

Odyssey’s core innovation is the capture mechanic. By throwing Cappy onto enemies, objects or creatures, Mario can capture them and gain their abilities — from controlling a T-Rex to stretching as an Uproot, flying as a Bullet Bill, swimming as a Cheep Cheep or zipping through electric wires. This brings unique puzzle-solving possibilities and dynamic movement abilities throughout the game.
 

Players travel through diverse kingdoms such as the Metro Kingdom (New Donk City), Sand Kingdom, Cascade Kingdom, Luncheon Kingdom, Seaside Kingdom and many more. Each kingdom is rich with secrets, coins, costumes, challenges and hidden pathways. Instead of traditional stars, players collect Power Moons to fuel the Odyssey airship and progress through the adventure.
 

Mario’s moveset is expanded with fluid platforming skills—triple jumps, long jumps, ground pounds, cap throws, dives and combinations allowing incredible speedrunning creativity. Costumes, souvenirs, mini-games, boss fights, Broodals, remixes and post-game challenges (including the Mushroom Kingdom and Darker Side) offer extensive replayability.
