2026, the year of unexpected comebacks, has finally dropped another canon event, and it's greater than ever! Ubisoft (the organization of lunatics) has finally resurrected from the grave by announcing the Assassin’s Creed live adaptation project! Yeah! I am speechless too…Well, Netflix announced the commencement of production for the upcoming project on March 20, 2026.
Mark the dates as from today, there’ll be no hatred for Ubisoft in my blogs! Jokes apart, the project will be handled by Netflix in collaboration with Ubisoft at “Cinecittà Studios” in Italy.

Don’t get too excited about the live adaptation as Netflix is in charge, not HBO. Further, the storyline is set in Rome, 64 AD… meaning the narrative is set approximately 1500 years before the entry of Italian rizz lord Ezio Auditore Da Firenze in Assassin’s Creed II and Brotherhood. So, lie down on the animus as we’ll be taking off to 64 AD Rome to discover live action’s plot, cast and more!
Assassin’s Creed Live Adaptation: Release Date and Platform!
According to Netflix’s recent blog and Ubisoft’s official announcement, the release date is still beyond our imagination. Well, it’s too soon for the production team to announce a release date. I mean, it’ll only anger the fandom if the initial release date gets delayed! Still, according to my intuition, the Assassin’s Creed Live Adaptation might be released in the late 2027 timeline window!

Speaking of the platform, the project will get an OTT release instead of a worldwide theatrical release like Assassin’s Creed Live Action in 2016, which featured Aguilar’s memory from 15th-century Spain. More information regarding the release timeline and platform is yet to be announced by the officials!
Will Assassin’s Creed Live-Action Feature an Original Storyline from the Franchise?
Is the golden era of Ubisoft coming back? Well, there are a lot of questions, and we’ll need to wait until Ubisoft or Netflix drops something new about the upcoming project! “Assassin’s Creed is a high-octane thriller centered on a secret war between two shadowy factions. One, the Templar Order, wants to determine mankind’s future through control and manipulation, while the other, the Assassin Brotherhood, fights to preserve free will. The series follows its characters across pivotal historical events as they battle to shape humanity’s destiny.” According to Ubisoft’s officials, the narrative will follow the same old formula from the AC franchise; However, this time we’ll be seeing new faces and rivalries from 64 AD Rome.

As mentioned above, the storyline revolves around the historical events before 1500 years of Assassin’s Creed II or Brotherhood, it seems like the franchise will include some major events from Rome’s history. For someone who doesn’t care much about history classes, Rome is the hub of almost every emotion that a human carries. From Betrayal to mass killing, millions of heroes have emerged from this infamous city!
The production house still needs to announce the plotline with characters; however, if seen from the historically accurate events held in 64 AD, Rome, the storyline might revolve around the Great Fire of Rome, which became the main highlight of the political turmoil during the reign of Emperor Nero. Meaning that the narrative will depict new characters like Sceneca the Younger (Philosopher) and Emperor Nero, who accused the Christians of the Great Fire of Rome, while showcasing the long-running feud between Templars and the Assassins Brotherhood.

Assassin’s Creed Live Adaptation : Production Team Behind the Scenes
“We’ve been fans of Assassin’s Creed since its release in 2007. Every day we work on this show, we come away excited and humbled by the possibilities that Assassin’s Creed opens to us,” Wiener and Patino say in a joint statement. “Beneath the scope, the spectacle, the parkour, and the thrills is a baseline for the most essential kind of human story, about people searching for purpose, struggling with questions of identity and destiny and faith. It is about power and violence and sex and greed and vengeance.”
Exhilarated to work behind this amazing project, Roberto Patino and David Wiener will handle the helm of the production as showrunners and executive producers for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed. Both of them have showcased their stellar performance in the series Westworld and Halo, respectively. Besides them, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, Austin Dil, Genevieve Jones, and Matt O’Toole will be the executive producers at Ubisoft Film & Television.
