EA has gone mad! Yeah, you heard me right, rumors suggest that EA FC 27 is going to be a free-to-play game, and take it with a grain of salt, as it can be an April Fool’s joke. The rumors surfaced online a couple of hours ago, and fans are going insane after hearing such a massive shift in the franchise after a long time. Although it’s a matter of joy, these rumors need to be verified by the officials. Now what’s the catch behind such a leak?

EA FC 26 had started well, but somehow became a joke of the year due to absurd in-game prices, laggy environment, and buggy gameplay mechanics that have definitely made several fans frustrated.

Seeing this, the rumor that surfaced a couple of hours ago claims that EA FC 27 is going to be a free-to-play game, which aims to boost popularity amongst football lovers, and it also acts as an apology to the entire fandom for facing such crucial bugs and issues in EA FC 26.

According to FootballGamingZone, EA released a “no clickbait” statement for their fans, stating some major changes in the upcoming title.

“Dear EA FC players,

We know you haven’t been completely satisfied by EA FC 26, and despite us promising to reduce the Power Curve, which we went back on on day one with 100K packs, amongst other goals, we know we need to do better by you.

So, in a bid to maintain FC’s popularity and sustainability, we are hereby announcing that EA FC 27 will be completely free-to-play.

This stretches across all game modes: Kick-Off, Career Mode, Clubs, and our beloved cash cow—Ultimate Team. You can download EA FC 27 for free once it launches in 2026 on all major plaforms”.

Even though FootballGamingZone states that this is a genuine statement from EA, analysing this apology from EA seems a bit fishy! I mean, why in the world would they make their entire game a F2P model?

(No such statements are made by the officials, by the way!)

What could Actually Happen?

What EA could bring to the table is that they would make the new game mode title “FC The Ground” a F2P, where you’ll need to purchase in-game accessories. What more can happen? The game’s really looking for a way to come back in the big leagues, with brand-new mechanisms like Project Assist! Seeing this transformation, it seems like the game will be released as it used to be, with a price tag for standard, deluxe, and ultimate editions! Instead of a F2P model, they might decrease their prices for in-game purchases or might release FC The Grounds as an F2P to gain new gamers or boost revenue by charging them through in-game purchases!

Wrapping Note

For those who are wondering when EA will open Beta testing! Get ready with your controllers, as it’s going to premiere on August 5, 2026. Whereas players can access Ultimate Teams Edition from August 25, 2026, and the full-fledged game will release on Friday, September 25, 2026. Don’t you worry, as this is officially confirmed by EA. However, the entire game being an F2P model seems like a fake rumor to boost hype amongst fans!
