Starfield, developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks, is the studio’s first new universe in over 25 years. Set in the year 2330, the game presents a vast science-fiction world where humanity has spread beyond Earth to settle the stars.
 

Players take on the role of a customizable explorer who joins Constellation, an organization dedicated to discovering rare artifacts and unraveling the greatest mystery of the galaxy. The narrative blends classic Bethesda storytelling with philosophical sci-fi themes about exploration, humanity and discovery.
 

Starfield features an enormous scale, with hundreds of star systems and over 1,000 planets to explore. Each planet offers unique environments, wildlife, resources and points of interest. Players can land almost anywhere, mine materials, survey worlds and build outposts to support exploration and crafting.
 

Combat combines first-person gunplay with sci-fi weapons, abilities and tactical companions. Space combat allows players to engage in ship-to-ship battles, board enemy vessels and customize ships with weapons, engines, cargo and living quarters. Ship building is deep and modular, encouraging creativity and specialization.
 

Role-playing is at the core of Starfield. Players choose backgrounds, traits and skills that shape dialogue options, gameplay abilities and story outcomes. Multiple factions, including the United Colonies, Freestar Collective, Ryujin Industries and Crimson Fleet, offer branching questlines and moral choices.
 

Powered by Bethesda’s upgraded Creation Engine 2, Starfield delivers expansive worlds, improved visuals and classic sandbox freedom. With its scale, depth and emphasis on player choice, Starfield represents Bethesda’s most ambitious RPG to date.
