Need for Speed Heat is an open-world street racing game set in Palm City, featuring day and night racing, deep car customization, intense police chases and a story-driven campaign. Build reputation at night and earn cash by day in the ultimate street-racer experience.
Need for Speed Heat, developed by Ghost Games and published by Electronic Arts, is a high-energy open-world street racing game set in Palm City, a vibrant world inspired by Miami’s neon nightlife and coastal atmosphere. Heat introduces a unique day-and-night system that dramatically affects gameplay, progression and risk-reward mechanics.
During the day, players participate in sanctioned racing events to earn cash, which they can use to purchase new cars, parts and visual customizations. At night, the game transforms into the heart of street racing culture. Players compete in illicit races to earn Reputation (REP)—but the police become far more aggressive and unpredictable. Higher heat levels mean tougher police units and bigger rewards, creating tense high-stakes moments as players try to escape before getting busted.
Heat features one of the most extensive customization systems in the Need for Speed franchise, including body kits, engine swaps, tuning sliders, stance adjustments, wraps, exhaust sounds and neon effects. With over 120+ cars from manufacturers like Ferrari, Lamborghini, BMW, Nissan, McLaren and Porsche, players can craft their dream street machines.
The story follows a rebellious crew challenging a corrupt police task force led by Lt. Mercer. Through missions, racing events and progression milestones, players uncover corruption in Palm City while rising to become a street-racing legend.
The open world offers varied biomes—downtown districts, industrial zones, swamps, highways and coastal roads—perfect for drifting, sprint racing and high-speed pursuits. Online features allow players to explore and race with friends in a shared world.
Fast, stylish, and packed with adrenaline, NFS Heat remains a fan-favorite modern entry in the iconic racing franchise.
