Before Anything Else… Happy Chinese New Year to all my gamers across the globe. Now, imagine you are told to cook a fantastical dish that includes herbs from the back of a baby demon and meat from different mutated species, along with several creature parts that enhance the aroma (Even Gordon Ramsay would lose his job).

Why am I blabbering this out of the blue?... Well, Game Science’s Black Myth : Zhong Kui dropped a latest In-Engine trailer depicting a demonic cooking session.

Eastern developer sure can do anything. Who said they are tight on a budget? Right after Black Myth: Wukong’s blockbuster success, all eyes are on its sequel, Black Myth: Zhong Kui. This highly anticipated game, commencing its journey from 2028 (speculated), tricked the entire gaming community with a classic Rick Roll.

An approx 7-minute-long in-engine trailer was released by Black Myth’s official YouTube channel yesterday. First things first, this is not a typical trailer that showcases gameplay mechanics or cinematic visuals from the storyline. Officials at Game Science stated that this trailer is “non-canon” and is just made for entertainment purposes to elevate the joyous moments of the Chinese New Year (Year of the Horse). So, without further ado, let’s delve into the magical kitchen to explore dishes made by “Yaoguai” (Spirits from Chinese Folklore).

Black Myth : Zhong Kui’s In-Engine Trailer Promises Great In-Game Depth

These Chinese developers can take my wallet at any time, and at this point, I don’t even care about the game’s official release date, as you can experience the love and efforts being put into such trailers.

Surely, Game Science is not rushing this project. On the other hand, developers legitimately cooked with their skills and showcased some authentic Chinese cuisine from their folklore.

Analyzing as a Reddit critic, even though this was a non-canon trailer, the realism burst out loud with pinpoint rendering effects. Especially for an Unreal Engine 5 in-engine showcase, the texture and lighting got my attention.

According to several reports, the video used technologies like ray-traced lighting and advanced visuals. For someone who’s indulged in Chinese Cuisine, this trailer will captivate them with such detail-oriented dishes.

Black Myth : Zhong Kui In-Engine Trailer Breakdown

Revisiting the trailer, fans get a glimpse of two characters going full throttle to prepare a bunch of dishes.

From chopping up mythical creatures to frying crispy rice, the trailer submerged itself into authenticity with nerve-calming background music.

Further in the trailer, fans can witness a plethora of demons from Chinese folklore helping out the cooks to prepare rich broth.

At last, the trailer depicted a simmering cauldron of Demon HotPot served to a cloaked figure, which seemed like a last meal before execution, leaving fans on the verge of a cliffhanger.

Wrapping Note

Although the trailer was made for the Chinese New Year celebration, the hype intensifies throughout the fanbase, and speculations for further trailers grow frantically all over the internet.  A perfect blend of high-impact visuals, art style, and technical accuracy. Indeed, an absolute cinema from Black Myth’s developers.
