Have you, too, been looking for that one Hawaiian shirt or that iconic walking style? Well, the question on everyone’s lips is whether the legendary Tommy Vercetti will show up in Leonida.

If you’ve been reading gaming news lately, they’ll tell you it’s impossible because of 'timelines' and 'universes.' But we’re not here for a history lecture, we’re here for the spicy theories that actually make sense.

1. The Universe POV

The biggest buzzkill out there is the 3D vs. HD Universe argument. As MrBossFTW pointed out in his breakdown, Rockstar officially stated back in 2011 that the PS2-era legends (3D) and the modern-era protagonists (HD) don't share the same page. It’s like trying to put a VHS tape into a PlayStation 5 - mechanically, the answer is a big NO.

But wait! MrBossFTW also reminded us of the 'Lazlow Exception.' Lazlow Jones (a writer/producer at Rockstar managed to hop from his real 'regular' life right into the virtual world of GTA V. If someone like Jones can bridge the gap, why can’t the man who literally owned Vice City? If there is one motto that Rockstar has always lived by, it's that ‘rules are made to be broken.’

2. The 77-Year-Old 'Godfather' Theory

Math is usually the enemy of fun, but let’s do some quick 'Gangster calculations' for the sake of clarity. According to the YouTube channel GRAVESIGHT, Tommy was 35 in 1986. By the time Lucia and Jason start their Bonnie and Clyde routine in 2025, Tommy would be roughly...77 years old.

Now, RENZI argues that a 77-year-old isn't exactly going to be doing parkour around the city. He makes a fair point. But have these people seen The Irishman? As Nick’s Gaming Den suggests, Tommy doesn't need to be the one pulling the trigger; he could be the guy leading the 'High Table,' living in a highly-guarded mansion, moving chess pieces like a Grandmaster.

Imagine a mission where you have to deliver 'pills' to a cranky old man, only to realize you’re about to meet the man who took down the Forelli Family (the most powerful Mafia organization in Liberty City). That’s the kind of fan service that wins Game of the Year.

3. The Ray Liotta Legacy

The most heart-wrenching part of this mystery is the passing of the GOAT, Ray Liotta, in 2022. Ray Liotta was a massive movie star, most famous for playing Henry Hill in The Goodfellas (1990). If you’ve ever seen a meme of a guy in a suit laughing with a cigarette in his hand, that’s him. He was the ultimate 'cool but very dangerous' movie gangster. Before GTA: Vice City (2002), the main characters in Grand Theft Auto games didn't talk. They just nodded while other people gave them orders.

Rockstar Games decided to change everything by hiring a literal Hollywood heavyweight to be the first-ever speaking lead. Ray Liotta gave Tommy Vercetti a soul, a temper, and a super dry sense of humor. He set the standard for every GTA character that followed. To fans, he is the GOAT, because he turned a video game character into a cinematic icon.

There is a very real, non-zero chance that Ray recorded dialogues for GTA before he passed. Rockstar is more secretive than a CIA black site, so if they have those recordings, they aren’t telling a soul until the game launches. YouTuber Fairzz argues that Rockstar respects their actors too much to use AI or a sound-alike, so if Tommy speaks, it has to be Ray. If he doesn’t, expect a silent, respectful 'King in the Shadows' vibe.

4. The Vercetti Estate is Hiding in Plain Sight

Check out the GTA 6 trailer again. Notice the architecture of the Venetian Islands (the HD version of Starfish Island). As MrBossFTW pointed out, eagle-eyed fans have already spotted mansions that look suspiciously like the Vercetti Estate.

Even if Tommy is 'sleeping with the fishes,' his house may still be there. We’re betting everything on a mission that takes us back to that iconic poolside, perhaps to find a hidden stash from the 80s or a very old, very dusty Mr. Vercetti suit from Pole Position Club (ring any bells?)

OrbeatX Verdict : Will He Appear?

Look, the word out in the community is that the universes won't cross. But Rockstar knows that Tommy Vercetti IS Vice City. You can’t return to the scene of the crime and ignore the guy who committed all of them.

Whether he’s a physical NPC, a voice on a 'Classic Hits' radio station, or just a legendary name whispered by NPCs in a local bar, Tommy’s ghost is going to be the most important part of the Leonida map.

So I guess, only time will tell (please make it soon though!) if Tommy is the secret villain, or he's just enjoying a very quiet, very illegal retirement.
