When we talk about football games and the ones that have made an unprecedented impact in the community, the first name that pops up in our mind is FIFA (I know, I know, we are talking about EA Sports FC only). With the latest addition to the series, EA Sports FC 26, players have had a very mixed kind of experience, though the inclination towards a positive sentiment was a little higher this time. Even after having some good free-to-play football games, none of them has ever been able to shake the foundation of EA's behemoth. However, people these days are talking about an up-and-coming Indie football game named GOALS. The graphics, the trailer, everything seemed on point, but will it be able to outclass EA FC? That's a question we are going to address here.

Both EA FC 26 and GOALS offer a footballing experience at their core. However, the trailer of GOALS addresses a few things that the FC players have been crying for a very long time now. The trailer starts by showing a player sitting in a dressing room, listening to audio on his phone where the complainant says, "Every year it is the same, slow, unresponsive, laggy." And the player in the frame then asks, "Aren't you sick of this, we need to wake up."

Now, if you ask me, the trailer was pretty eye-catching and flamboyant, taking digs at EA FC 26 as if EA is the father who went to buy milk and never came back. But making tall claims and actually beating EA are two different things, and I've seen that very closely. When UFL created a lot of buzz with its first gameplay trailer, I also thought, "Oh my god, EA FC finally has strong competition." Little did I know that you just can't beat EA FC with good gameplay. And the reason behind the same is the kind of multiverse EA has created, which we can talk about in the next section.

GOALS Vs FC 26 : McBappe, Donaldo and Declan Bread, VS Ramos, Nesta And Gareth Bale

GOALS has zero licenses as of now for the players or the teams that are currently playing in the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, and others. So, 90 per cent chances are that we will get to see player spoofs, which is something that no serious gamer loves to see. On the other hand, we have EA Sports FC 26 with the licenses for the teams and players you are unaware of and will be unaware of for at least the next half a decade.

GOALS Vs FC 26 : Where The Indie Could Shine?

The developers of GOALS have consistently stated from the outset that the game will reward players who demonstrate skills more heavily than those who rely on randomness and automation. And this could be a major point where GOALS beats EA FC, because even now, gamers get irritated with the scripting of matches in FC 26. Apart from that, no licenses means no star players or overpowered players. This could open up a fair playground in GOALS and can also work as a main USP if the game moves its focus towards ruling esports as a niche.

On A Concluding Note

See, GOALS could be a good game just like UFL is, but dethroning EA FC is not going to happen overnight, if it ever happens. However shitty the game is or becomes, it has licenses and modes that gamers crave, but most probably they'll never accept it. Who on this earth, as a football fan and gamer, would not like to play as their favourite team and annihilate the opponent or shoot goals that are beyond imagination? This will always work as an edge for EA FC until there is a title that has all the licenses and offers amazing gameplay.
