Imagine you are drafted to a battlefield, but are asked to wear a new piece of clothing in every encounter? Wouldn’t it be cool to show off some of your icy drips? Well, Ghost of Tsushima lets you experience this dream with its eye-pleasing armor sets! An armor is another trophy besides the katana that makes a samurai deadly, and today we’ll talk about some of the best armor sets you can acquire in Ghost of Tsushima.

If you think you’ll proceed further in the storyline without upgrading or finding new armor sets, don’t be mistaken, my lad, as this game will teach you the real lesson of “what happens if you don’t listen to tutorials or guides from guys like us.”

So, assemble your Kabuto (helmet) and Sode (shoulder guards), as we’ll dive deep to explore some of the best armor sets that will make your path easy to kill Khotun Khan!

Why Invest in Armor Sets?

Although Ghost of Tsushima is not an RPG, it is challenging, and if you have no experience with resource management, it will likely take years. With new patch updates from director’s cut and new game+, the game offers a total of 15 armor sets, 12 of which can be upgraded four times throughout the campaign.

Besides technique, mythic abilities, and ghost weapons, armor sets reward special buffs with unique aesthetics to Jin’s appearance. Moreover, different armor sets change the combat mechanics, increasing the thrill and adrenaline of killing hordes of Mongolians.

Note: Before proceeding further, I want to clear some crucial points:

  1. Armor sets totally depend on your playstyle. So don’t put me behind bars for not mentioning your favorite armor set.
  2. Don’t stick to one armor set for a long time, as you’ll miss out on the chance to upgrade other badass-looking armor sets that will make you invincible on the battlefield.
  3. Use resources wisely to upgrade armor. Clearing the first 2 acts can be done with the basic versions without even utilizing resources for their upgrades.

5 Best Armor Sets in Ghost of Tsushima

5. Traveller’s Attire

One of the best armor sets one can acquire if they are new to the game and want to explore the terrains of Tsushima and Iki before challenging Mongolian brutes to standoffs. Why is it essential to have traveller’s attire by your side? This armor set tracks artifacts with the help of guiding winds.

Clears 10% more war fog from the map, which will help you to search for open-world activities like bamboo strikes, hot springs, and Inari shrines.  Besides locating artifacts and collectibles, this set produces vibrations in the controller whenever Jin is within 30 meters of resources! Where to find this armor set? Traveller’s Attire can be acquired from any merchant! However, right after the prologue, the merchant at Hiyoshi Spring in Act 1 will gift you this amazing set.

4. Sakai Clan Armor

If stealth’s not your cup of tea, and you prefer a regular samurai-style combat, then Sakai Clan Armor should be on your hunting list! Acquired after completing the main mission titled “Ghosts from the Past” in Act 2, this armor is my personal favorite. An armor with Jin’s family crest is all you want to complete the storyline. Believe me, this armor will become your guardian angel if you are influenced by the “FBI open up” meme. Jam-packed with a moderate increase to melee damage, this armor set also includes a moderate increase to health, increases the standoff streak by 1, and gives a 10% chance to frighten enemies after winning a standoff. If upgraded fully, the armor set allows a standoff streak up to 5, with a maximum boost in health.

3. Gosaku’s Armor

Frankly speaking, if you have obtained Gosaku’s Armor, then there’s no need to find other alternatives to show off your drip! Acquired after completing the Mythic Tale” The Unbreakable Gosaku” from Act 2, this armor set is a behemoth of stagger damage.

No doubt, millions of players have upgraded this armor to the extent! Considered superior to the Sakai Clan Armor, Gosaku’s Armor provides a moderate increase to health, a moderate increase to stagger damage, and makes you Ryomen Sukuna by regenerating your health if you have killed an enemy with stagger damage. Combining the fully upgraded armor with the charm of Amaterasu will reward players a 30% health regeneration. So stop being choosy and obtain this armor to unlock the badass shogun within you!

2. Ghost Armor

Afraid of challenging enemies to a standoff and want a slice of Assassin’s Creed amidst the invaded Japan, then my friend Ghost Armor is one of the best armor sets that you can obtain to complete the “Honor died on the beach” feelings. Besides looking like a 10/10 baddie, this armor will blend you amongst the darkness.

Completely inspired by stealth gameplay, this armor set reduces enemy detection speed by 40%. Delving deeper, Ghost Armor reduces the number of kills required to enter the “Ghost Stance” (an ability that uses up to 3 resolve to terrify enemies and makes Tsushima a slaughterhouse for some seconds). Where to find this armor? Well, the armor automatically unlocks after completing the end mission of Act 2, titled “From the Darkness.”

1. Sarugami Armor

This here is a representation of one-sided domination! No cap, I’ve been using this armor for a long time, and the combat feels the same as the 8-2 Bayern Munich vs FC Barcelona match. Introduced in the Director’s Cut, this armor can be acquired from the Mythic Tale titled “The Legend of Black Hand Riku” on Iki Island. Considered as the high-risk/high-reward armor set, Sarugami, or the Monkey Deity armor set, disables regular parry and initiates perfect parry, while triggering a 3-strike counterattack when upgraded fully. It’s definitely not for the newcomers as regular parries are prohibited, which helps players to read attacks properly.

Likewise, this armor set increases high melee damage and increases the perfect dodge window, which leads to a spinning attack that blinds enemies. Finally, the armor rewards players with a massive increase to all resolve gain. Equip this armor set if you believe that spam blocks and parries have no room in a world of deadly katana clashes.
