Put on your cosy pyjamas and grab your emotional support controller, folks, because the February 2026 State of Play rumors are hitting harder than a Kratos headbutt.

Look, we’ve all been through the cycle (ugh! one too many times). We stay up until 3:00 AM, fueled by nothing but cold pizza and a desperate hope that Sony will finally acknowledge our existence, only to get 15 minutes of a "cozy farming simulator with a twist." But according to the latest whispers from the sacred halls of Reddit and leakers like NateTheHate, the drought is officially over.

Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming February State of Play, written by someone who is also tired of 'Coming Soon' trailers that actually mean “See you in 2030 (or maybe when you're the least concerned about it)”

The 'Big Bang' (First-Party Reveals)

History doesn’t just repeat itself...it trolls us. But there’s a pattern here. The last six State of Plays have ended with a 'hang on...there's just one more thing' that actually made the internet break (shoutout to Ghost of Yōtei and Wolverine).

The Reddit detectives are betting their entire Platinum trophy collections on Sony Santa Monica. Rumor has it we’re finally getting the reveal of that 2.5D God of War Metroidvania. Yes, a 'smaller' Greek prequel that combines God of War with Blasphemous. If this doesn’t show up, I’m personally going to go to the Santa Monica offices and yell "BOY" until security throws me out.

PSSR 2.0 : Shall We Gear Up for 'GTA VI'?

Let’s get technical for a second, and by technical we mean - let's talk about what the upgrades we might possibly get to hear about at the event. We’re talking about PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) 2.0.

The PS5 Pro has been out for a bit, but we’re all thinking the same thing: 'Will this thing run GTA VI at 60fps without flinching?” Rumours say that Sony will use this State of Play to flex PSSR 2.0, which reportedly uses AI to upscale 864p to a crisp 4K at 120fps. For those who seem to be unaware, It’s basically the ultimate AI 'Glow Up' for your games.

The Square Enix Corner

If you’re a Kingdom Hearts fan, I’m so sorry. You’ve been through more heartbreaks than you deserved. While we’re all dying for Kingdom Hearts 4 news, the smart money is on Final Fantasy VII Part 3. With the 30th Anniversary of the original FFVII coming up, expect a title card reveal that will launch a thousand 4-hour theory videos. Also, keep an eye out for that Final Fantasy IX Remake. It’s been 'leaked' more times than it should've, but with the 25th anniversary vibe still lingering, it’s now or never, Square.

The 'Coming Soon' (Probably) List

Based on the latest data spread across several sources like Reddit and Twitter, here’s what’s actually likely to show up versus what belongs in your fan-fiction :

Game / ProjectDeveloperLikelihood  for Feb 2026 PS SOPStatus
SarosHousemarque100% (Confirmed)Launches April 30. Expect a ‘Deep Dive’ that makes your brain hurt
Resident Evil RequiemCapcom95%Launches Feb 27. It’s as good as guaranteed to get a ‘Playable Demo’ drop during the show.

Marvel's WolverineInsomniac70%It’s been quiet... too quiet. We’re due for a gameplay reveal and a ‘Fall 2026’ date.
IntergalacticNaughty Dog60%Their first new IP in a decade. If we see a title card, the internet will actually explode.
Final Fantasy VII (Part 3)Square Enix50%30th Anniversary vibes are high. Even a name reveal would satisfy the ‘Cope’ crowd.
Kingdom Hearts 4Square Enix40%It’s been 4 years since the reveal. Sora is probably old enough to marry her crush by now.

The Real Talk

We’re at the point in the console generation where things get weird. Bend Studio and Bluepoint are likely MIA until the PS6 launch (RIP our GaaS dreams for 2026), which means Sony needs to fill the gap with high-quality 'smaller' projects and 'tech upgrades'.

If this State of Play doesn't have a legendary 'Final Boss' reveal, we riot. But if we get that God of War spinoff and a look at how GTA VI is going to melt our PS5 Pros? Well, then Sony can have my wallet(s). Again.

What do you think? Are we going to get the God of War Metroidvania, or is it going to be another year of "we're sorry, but that's gonna be it for now"?
