Some rumors have suggested recently that something called PlayStation Play Go might be real. There’s already a concept available in the market that came with PS4, called PlayGo, so don’t confuse this with that. We will see the difference between them briefly in this article. But before that, we need to see what this concept is first.
An industry scooper going by the name Moore’s Law is Dead on YouTube gave hint in a new video, referencing to a text, that it is Sony’s “version of XBOX’s ‘Smart Delivery.'" There aren’t many details about it in the open so all you need to know is to understand what XBOX’s Smart Delivery is.
PlayStation’s Own Smart Delivery
Play Go is simply a concept that will allow the players to play games with just the necessary files to take the burden off its memory. Let’s say that you have a game more compatible with PS5 but you want to play it on your PS4. What used to happen up to this point was that you needed all those files in the system to play the game.

If it is, let’s say, needed 150 GB of storage on PS5, that means you need 150 GB of storage on PS4 too. However, that game doesn’t really need 50 GB and got just 100 GB of files to run it. With Play Go’s in the loop, you will need just those 100 GB worth of files on a PS4 to play a game.

To put it more precisely, a system like Smart Delivery will automatically optimize a game for a console, respectively.
And, so that you don’t get confused with PlayGo, it’s a service that allows users to play a game while it is being downloaded. With the kind of download speed we are getting today, that’s not really something players need.

How is it Going to Affect XBOX?
Since the dawn of this iconic rivalry, PlayStation has always outshone XBOX in almost every aspect. Be it the superior graphics or high-quality games, the former is a go-to abode for most of the video gamers. This is also evident with the fact that PlayStation has had 70% dominance, as Microsoft president Brad Smith himself addressed in a press conference, over the console market for a majority of the gaming giant’s existence.
If PlayStation releases its version of Smart Delivery, it will possibly attract new users, especially the ones looking a reason to switch from XBOX.
