Leaks and theories are what keeps the hype alive, but GTA 6 is a different case, the fanbase is filled with fanatics who have posted millions of theories regarding the plotline of the upcoming instalment.
Apart from those million theories, there’s one theory or a “spilled tea” by Rockstar that gained everyone’s attention and it’s “Will we see a third playable character (protagonist) along with Jason and Lucia”?

Is GTA 6 Really Bringing a Third Protagonist : Leaks
Several things were revealed during the huge breach that happened in 2022, which clarified world-buildings and the Bonnie-Clyde-like relation between Jason and Lucia. Moreover, the rumored budget of $2 billion confirmed that the game will include ample supporting characters linked with Jason and Lucia and their heist plans. Despite a lot of things revealed through leaks and rumours, there is still a lot of secrecy surrounding the upcoming GTA franchise.
All things were working smoothly… but out of a sudden Rockstar Games revealed their 2nd official trailer which caused a chaotic environment in the entire community. While the first trailer showcased the in-game social media as a new addition to the game, the second trailer revolved around Jason, Lucia and other characters like Raul Bautista and Dre’Quan Priest who seemed friendly towards our main protagonists. Considering the trailer, many fans from the nether of Reddit and credible analysts started scrutinizing the possibility of GTA 6 having a third playable character.
On the other hand, fans from r/GTA6 believed that their Bonnie-Clyde-like relationship might end-up as a betrayal or one of them being an undercover cop.
Subreddit communities like r/GTA6 started theorising with a storm thinking that the possible player might be the cop showcased in the trailer who’s either linked up with Jason and Lucia’s evil schemes or has planted a bug within their criminal syndicate. While GTA 5 had three playable characters, I think it’s impossible for the franchise to cut down a playable character in the latest instalment which took over 13 years in development.
According to Elven-Melvin, a user from r/GTA 6 the game will not have a third playable character due to a latest gameplay mechanic witnessed by us in both the trailers. Well, according to him, Jason’s hair and stubble grows over time, just like Arthur Morgan from RDR2, making it a guaranteed mechanic at this point that the game has one male protagonist at this time.
Well, debunking this theory is harder than rocket science. As per my perspective, it’s a marketing strategy by Rockstar Games to build an immense hype throughout the community and the corporation might reveal the third playable character as a DLC in the upcoming trailer which will most probably be revealed in March during the summer marketing campaign.
Is Raul Bautista the Third Protagonist of GTA 6?
Many speculations are pointing towards the character named Raul Bautista, who was either showcased as a close friend or a working partner in Jason’s syndicate. While the second trailer focused heavily on Lucia and Jason, Raul’s appearance hinted something that further ignited such debate online. According to Spoiler-Budget a user from r/GTA has stated a stellar theory. Following the narrative, Jason longs for a simple life but his affection and love for Lucia stops him to change completely, Lucia on the other hand with her lust for criminal activities longs for more heists even after spending quality time in jail. Further the theory states that Lucia will be linked with Raul’s crew, whereas Jason gets wrapped up with corrupt cops while indulging in the dirty work of drug dealing.
The user at last claims that GTA 6 will have a choices matter mechanic in its epilogue, where the game will need to sacrifice one of the characters for proceeding further. While Lucia works with Raul under Bobbie Ike, Vice City legend/Durg lord and business partner with Dre’Quan Priest. Jason gets killed while saving Lucia from these wrong doings.
Ahh! Old is a gold storyline from RDR 2 where Arthur Morgan gets killed and a DLC character none other than John Morrison gets announced where we play extra missions with the new protagonists. The same theory works here; players might get Raul Bautista as their new DLC protagonists after GTA 6’s epilogue. But these are just rumours, so, I am expecting all the readers will treat them like that only.
