Xbox Could Become a Software-Only Company, Says Former PlayStation Executive

Xbox is one of the most heard and popular names in the gaming world, having been present since 2001. From playing your favorite online games to taking advantage of premium membership deals, Xbox can be your one-stop point for your gaming needs.

But, currently, Xbox is getting major blended feedback as most of its titles are moving towards Playstation. Overall, it can be seen that most Xbox lovers seem unhappy with its multi-platform approach, making it difficult for the gaming brand to sustain its audience.

Additionally, Phil Spencer stated that hardware is a crucial brand component, but Xbox fans seem upset with major titles being compromised with other platforms like PlayStation.

Will Xbox Turn Into A Software-Only Company?

With the current situation of Xbox, it is evident that it is going through a difficult time now. One of the primary reasons for Xbox turning poor is its exclusive content out into other platforms.

If the premium content provided by Xbox can be enjoyed outside of it, the audience will likely use less Xbox and look for better alternatives.

Recently, Shawn Layden, the former Playstation boss, was seen in the Kiwi Talkz Podcast, sharing his opinion on Xbox. Moreover, he was asked to share his 2 cents on the console system’s current strategy.

He added the perks of its approach as the development costs rise in the industry. Most importantly, Shawn stated that it would cause trouble for Microsoft to sell Xbox, making it tough for the hardware to sustain in the current market.

Xbox’s brand value might too go down as its exclusive content is no longer exclusive now. To this, he said that it would be great to balance the approach, and Xbox has been following the same fate as Sega.

What’s The Connection Between Sega and Xbox?

The well-known Japanese video game company, Sega, was the foundation of the gaming industry. The big brand experienced major success in the world of arcade games and is known for iconic stories and characters.

However, the exit of Sega from the console world made Xbox a massive success in the early 20s. But, it seems that Xbox is in the same fate as Sega was going through at that time. Currently, Saga is doing great, but it appears that Xbox’s fate is in trouble.

Adam Boyes’ Statement on Xbox

In the current situation of Xbox, the former PlayStation executive, Adam Boyes, also commented on Microsoft’s attempt to release more multiplatform games. Surprisingly, Adam praised Xbox for being agile in the changing gaming industry.

Additionally, he stated that the gaming console has now become an entertainment provider and is no longer a disc producer or distributor.

The Final Words

The current scenario and approach of Xbox sharing more of its games on other consoles have made a massive hoax in the gaming world. Due to these reasons, Xbox has been collecting adverse reactions from the players.

The well-known names of the PlayStation, including Shawn Layden and Adam Boyes, also commented on Xbox's multi-platform approach.
