Tom Holland Confirms Spider-Man 4 Filming in 2025
Spider-Man 4 won't be causing fans anymore headaches than it already has with its release date, as a recent report from a company earnings call attests.
Spider-Man 4 is officially on its way. Four years since the release of No Way Home, we have finally received word about our beloved arachnid. Brought to life by British actor Tom Holland, the film shall be back on our screens soon, and fresh news continues popping up every single day.
Spider-Man 4 was not as easy a decision as a choice as most other sequels, even though the previous film had been a billion-dollar hit. Although Spider-Man: No Way Home had been a billion-dollar hit, it had also marked the conclusion of the Home trilogy that began with Homecoming. Moreover, it had an emotional multiversal storyline that made it an even more impactful conclusion than it would otherwise had.
Thus, Tom Holland, Marvel Studios, and Sony all had to grapple with the task of trying to come up with a good idea for a new series of films.
When Will Spider-Man 4 Begin Filming?
Tom Holland has revealed that production on Spider-Man 4 will commence in mid-2025. This news was made known by Tom while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The film will be released on July 24, 2026, and will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton.
What will Spider-Man 4 Be About?
Talking on the Rich Roll podcast about the script, Holland confessed the story got him and Zendaya, who just so happens to be his real-life IRL partner, more than pumped.
“We have a creative, and we have a pitch and a draft, which is great.”. It requires work, but the writers are really doing a great job,” Holland said. "I read [the script] three weeks ago, and it really set fire to me. Zendaya and I sat down and read it together, and we, sometimes, were jumping around the living room like, “This is an actual movie deserving of the fans’ respect. But there’s a couple of things we need to work out before we can get that really going, but it's exciting.”
Cast of Spider-Man 4
To date, we know that Tom Holland will be reprise his role as Peter Parker/Tom Holland in Spider-Man 4. Although it has not been confirmed, it is most probably that Zendaya will also return as MJ, given that the pair have both read the script.
It is not confirmed yet on Jacob Batalon reprising as Ned. In an interview with ComicBook.com, Batalon appeared optimistic about coming back.
Who will be Directing and Writing Spider-Man 4?
Similar to the three earlier films, Spider-Man 4 has been written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. However, the director of the movie will be Shang-Chi's Destin Daniel Cretton rather than Jon Watt.
Though the script is being developed, with Holland and Zendaya providing their suggestions, it looks like Spider-Man 4 is going in the right direction. Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige earlier had assured that the film was being developed, stating, “We have the story. We have big ideas for that, and our writers are just putting pen to paper now.”
Meanwhile, fans can still anticipate Holland's Spider-Man 4 and one or two additional Avengers cameos before Peter Parker officially retires the suit for good in the MCU.
